On Wednesday we were in Glasgow to officially launch the Strathclyde University Hot air Balloon Society (SUHABS). As part of the launch the club also commission a bespoke Cold Air Balloon (nicknamed Wee Andy) with Sir Jim McDonald the principal of the University on hand to officially launch SUHABS with the team.

The Society has been funded by both grants and corporate partners Kubicek Balloons UK, Getahotel.co.uk & Lawlor Technologies.

Doug Hoddinott of Kubicek Balloons UK says ‘we are delighted to be involved in this project and be involved in setting up a New University Balloon Club in the United Kingdom, Malik and Maisie have done a fantastic job to bring it to this stage and supports our goals of trying to encourage more people into Ballooning from all walks of life and all ages’

The big balloon will be a Kubicek 105 Z Type and carry the main University Logo along with the Corporate partners underneath with Banners. We hope the balloon will make its debut appearance around Autumn time as the new academic year begins at the University.
